What is PETROLEIRON?

PETROLEIRON is one of the major events organized by Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Perminyakan (HMTM) PATRA ITB with the theme “Sumbangsih untuk Bangsa”.

PETROLEIRON is an embodiment of the spirit of nationalism held by the students of Petroleum Engineering ITB and acts as a concrete, tangible way said students can contribute to society. Every cent earned through the series of events within it will be allocated to fund a Community Development project.

PETROLEIRON is composed of four main events that serve as a pathway to reach the goals set by the organizers. The aforementioned events are Golf Tournament & Family Gathering, “Sepuluhribu untuk Satu” (Ten Thousand for One), Seminar & Expo, and Closing Ceremony “Cintaku untuk Indonesia” (My Love for Indonesia).

Golf Tournament & Family Gathering is the event within PETROLEIRON in which the people involved with the petroleum industry can contribute to the cause, as it is in this event that most of the fundraising for the community development will take place. This event will take place on February 9^th 2008 at the Bandung Giri Gahana Golf & Resort, the premiere golf course in the whole of West Java.

Sepuluhribu untuk Satu aims to, as the name implies, collect ten thousand signatures from the people of Indonesia (focused on the local populace of Bandung) as a representation of their pride on being Indonesians and their love for the country. The result of this endeavor will be artistically arranged to form the shape of the Indonesian archipelago and will be put on February 16^th 2008 at the peak event of PETROLEIRON.

The Seminar held on February 16^th 2008 will mainly cover topics regarding CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), that is how great the role of the oil companies (KPS, KKS) in Indonesia is in contributing to domestic development and growth.

The Expo will feature the oil companies in Indonesia and showcase their respective company profile and programs concerning CSR. The expo will take place from the 14^th to 16^th of February.

As the climactic event, Closing Ceremony “Cintaku untuk Indonesia”, held on February 16^th 2008, aims to unite the masses and expose to the world the continuing community development program organized by HMTM PATRA ITB. This final event will feature student bands from ITB and be highlighted by a nationally-renowned artist.
